Insurance cancellation

Health insurance - is mandatory, cancel your insurance in the Slovak Republic and make new one in the country you are going to work and live in.

Social insurance – cancel it in Sociálna poisťovňa

For unemployed citizens there is an obligation to announce their moving abroad also to Úrad práce, sociálnych vecí a rodiny (Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family).

Contract cancellation with energy and services providers

- services, energy and medical care providers

Don’t forget: doctors, internet connection providers, mobile operators, banks, garbage disposal etc…

Visa and permits

- EU countries: no working permit needed
- other countries: visa, permits etc. – more difficult demands – contact embassy of the foreign country

1. Do I need another document in addition to a valid passport / ID card?
If you plan to drive abroad and you are not in an EU country, don't forget your international driving license. More information about this type of driver's license can be found on the website of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic.

You will certainly find an extract from the criminal record or certificates and documents proving education.

2. I have all permits. Is there anything else I should think about?
We recommend that you study the laws of the country you are moving to, and if you are going to an exotic state, be sure to find out about vaccination options.

3. Can I be insured in two EU countries at the same time?
No, it is only possible to be insured in 1 country of the European Union.
