Is a product you own dangerous?

Dangerous products are products that are published in the following lists of dangerous products:

What if you suspect you have a dangerous product that is not on the dangerous product lists?

Consumers who suspect that a product they have purchased is dangerous, but cannot find it in the dangerous product list, can report this to the Slovak Trade Inspection (as the oversight body in this field) by filling in the online form (available in Slovak).

Can you return a dangerous product?

Consumers are entitled to return dangerous products that are in the dangerous product lists.

Note:
A notification of a dangerous product applies to that specific product, not to other related models, versions or products with different names.

If you have a dangerous product, who can you return it to?

Consumers are entitled to return a dangerous product to the manufacturer, importer, supplier or seller.

Can you return a dangerous product without proof of purchase?

The manufacturer, importer, supplier or seller is obliged to take back a dangerous product and, within three working days of receipt, refund the purchase price and reimburse reasonable costs incurred by consumers (evidence of such costs is required), even if they have no proof of purchase.

Can you return a dangerous product if the guarantee period has expired?

Consumers are entitled to return a dangerous product even after the guarantee period has expired. Therefore, there is no need to file a claim or complaint. In this situation there is no time limit, so consumers can exercise their right to return a dangerous product at any time.

If you have a dangerous product, do you have to return it in its original packaging?

There is no requirement for consumers to return a product in its original packaging.

Who can you contact as a consumer if you have any further questions?

Consumers can contact the competent oversight body – in this case the Slovak Trade Inspection – if they have any questions. The contact details for responsible officers can be found on STI´s website.
