How to set up a business enterprise in the Slovak Republic?

Foreign nationals doing their business activities have the same rights as Slovak businessmen. Depending on the type of the business and their nationality they have to fulfill several condition. The biggest difference is between EU/OECD national and third country nationals. Both groups have other obligations during the process of founding their business.

Limited liability company

Foundation of the limited liability company (in Slovak language s.r.o.) is complicated process with several steps. In this case it is more convenient to be in contact with a lawyer that would provide you necessary information. The very important information is that statutory representative has to have Slovak residence.

Other form to start a business in Slovakia is to be sole proprietor. Also in this case, the owner has to be Slovak resident. The most common form is to have a temporary residence that enables the foreigner to start a business enterprise.

  • electronic application – half of the fee
